FAQs
Choosing a dental practice is an important decision, and you likely have questions about holistic dentistry, our approach to care, and what to expect during your visit. We understand that many patients are looking for alternatives to conventional dentistry and want to know how biocompatible practices differ from traditional methods. These frequently asked questions address common concerns about mercury-free dentistry, advanced technologies, payment options, and the unique services we provide.
At Rose Dental, Dr. Zina Aaron and her team specialize in holistic, biocompatible dentistry that considers your overall health alongside your oral health. Our new patient exam process helps us understand your health history and dental goals so we can create a personalized treatment plan. We’re committed to using safe materials, advanced technology, and gentle techniques that support your body’s natural healing abilities.
About Our Holistic Approach
Our philosophy centers on treating the whole person, not just individual teeth, which sets us apart from conventional dental practices.
What makes Rose Dental different from traditional dental practices?
We practice holistic dentistry, which means we consider how dental treatments affect your entire body. We use biocompatible materials that work with your body rather than against it, and we avoid substances like mercury and fluoride. Our practice is mercury-free and SMART-certified for safe amalgam removal. We also focus on preventive care and education to help you maintain optimal oral health naturally.
Do you use mercury fillings?
No, we never place mercury amalgam fillings. We safely remove existing mercury fillings using the SMART (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique) protocol developed by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. This process includes protective measures like rubber dam isolation, external air supply, and specialized filtration systems to prevent mercury exposure during removal.
What are biocompatible materials?
Biocompatible materials are dental materials that are safe for your body and don’t interfere with your natural biological processes. We use zirconia for dental implants instead of titanium because zirconia doesn’t block energy flow or interfere with protein synthesis. We also use composite resins for fillings and ceramic materials for crowns and bridges that are free from harmful metals.
Services and Technology
We invest in advanced equipment and techniques that make dental care more comfortable, precise, and effective for our patients.
What is laser dentistry, and how does it benefit me?
Our practice uses the Photona Light Walker laser for many procedures. Laser dentistry allows us to treat cavities without drilling or anesthesia in most cases. The laser vaporizes decayed tissue and sterilizes the area more thoroughly than traditional methods, resulting in better outcomes and a lower risk of recurrent decay. Patients appreciate that laser treatment is quieter, faster, and more comfortable than conventional drilling.
Do you offer airway dentistry?
Yes, airway health is one of our specialties. Many people have underdeveloped jawbones that don’t provide adequate space for the tongue, which can block breathing during sleep and cause snoring or sleep apnea. We use appliances to expand the jaw and reposition it forward, creating more room for proper breathing. This approach addresses the root cause of airway obstruction rather than just managing symptoms.
What is cone beam CT scanning?
We use cone beam CT technology to capture detailed 3D images of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures. This advanced imaging helps us diagnose conditions such as cavitations (infections of the jawbone), plan implant placement precisely, and evaluate airway anatomy. Our Planmeca Viso G7 system delivers the highest-resolution images available, enabling us to see details that traditional X-rays cannot.
Can you treat cavities without root canals?
We focus on saving teeth through conservative treatments that preserve the tooth’s vitality. We use ozone therapy, platelet-rich fibrin from your own blood, and other regenerative techniques to promote healing. Many teeth that conventional dentists would recommend for root canals can be saved using these methods. We don’t perform root canals because keeping dead tissue in the body can lead to chronic health issues.
How do you approach gum disease treatment?
We take a comprehensive approach to gum health because chronic periodontitis affects 47.2% of adults over 30 in the United States. Rather than just treating symptoms, we address underlying causes like inflammation, nutrition deficiencies, and bacterial imbalances. We use ozone therapy to reduce harmful bacteria, recommend specific supplements to support tissue healing, and may suggest dietary changes to reduce systemic inflammation that affects gum health.
Insurance and Payment
We work with multiple payment options to make holistic dental care accessible while maintaining our commitment to quality, patient-focused treatment.
Do you accept insurance?
We are an out-of-network provider, but we accept most PPO insurance plans. Our team will verify your benefits and file claims on your behalf. You pay for services upfront, and your insurance company reimburses you directly according to your plan’s out-of-network benefits. This arrangement allows us to provide comprehensive care focused on your health rather than insurance limitations.
What payment options are available?
We accept major credit cards, cash, and Apple Pay or Android Pay. We also work with Cherry and CareCredit to help make treatment more affordable. These companies offer payment plans with various terms to fit different budgets. Our team can explain your options and help you choose the best solution for your situation. You can review more details about costs and payment arrangements on our financial information page.
Getting Started
Beginning your journey with Rose Dental is straightforward, and we make sure every new patient feels welcomed and well-informed from the first appointment.
What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first appointment includes a comprehensive exam where we review your health history, take necessary images, and discuss your concerns and goals. Dr. Aaron takes time to understand your overall health, not just your teeth. We’ll explain our findings and recommend treatments that align with your values and needs. Most new patient appointments last about an hour.
Do you see children?
Yes, we provide pediatric dental care, including preventive services, fillings, and airway evaluation. Early assessment of jaw development and breathing patterns can prevent problems later in life. We also offer palatal expansion for children whose jaws need more room for proper tooth alignment and breathing.
How often should I schedule appointments?
Most patients benefit from cleanings and exams every six months, though some may need more frequent visits depending on their oral health status. We customize your care schedule to your individual needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
